Team MAD
Makes A Difference!
In only its 3rd year, Team MAD walked to the starting line of the ING Hartford Marathon with 52 runners (5 relay, 28 Half, and 19 Full). A few hours later they all crossed the finish line as a Hero. Training since mid June, many runners completed their first half or full marathon.
Running 13.1 or 26.2 miles was no easy accomplishment. With hard work, dedication and many scarifies our runners not only accomplished a personal goal, but also raised $31,000 for My Sisters' Place. During these tough economic times, organizations like My Sisters' Place see an increase in need and a decrease in funding. Team MAD's efforts will help My Sisters' Place during a time they need it most. Team MAD is still accepting any last minute donations through November.
The best word to summarize this season for Team MAD would be Serendipity....
"Serendipity is putting a quarter in the gumball machine and having three pieces come rattling out instead of one—all red." - Peter H. Reynolds
Many runners joined Team MAD to be able to complete a half or full marathon and raise money for charity. What they actually recieved was so much more. A few of the serendipity gifts were:
- New friends that will last long after the running has stopped.
- A healthy lifestyle change.
- Unwavering support from family and friends.
- Knowing from now on that they CAN do anything they set thier mind to.
- Became a person that has inspired friends, family and co-workers to Join Team MAD.
You would think our runners would have crossed the line and said, "Never Again!" but not this group...many are already talking about next year-and that is what makes Team MAD so GREAT!!!!
Team MAD would like to thank all of it's sponsors. Especially Lane Construction, Radiology Associates of Hartford, and Key Hyundai of Manchester.
After a couple weeks off, Team MAD is already preparing to make next year even better...
